Bacon’s College values the distinctive nature of its ethos to which every member of its community contributes. It celebrates the differences that define it as well as the common humanity that unites all its members. The value system and ethos of Bacon’s is inclusive of all within a strong Christian ethos, characterised by the quality and openness of the relationships between students, staff and the wider community.
The College values the integration and incorporation of the emotional health programme into the Worship and Citizenship programme and believes that its ethos has been strengthened as a result. It still promotes the centrality of worship and is proud of the committed and reflective attitude of its students to this key aspect of its ethos. Partnerships with the community, both local and international continue to develop and flourish, to which the annual advent appeal for the children of Swaziland and the Swaziland Charitable Trust bears eloquent witness.
Father Roger Hall accepted the appointment as Chaplain to Bacon’s in 2007: he combines his Bacon’s duties with his role as Chaplain to the Tower of London. His appointment has strengthened the spiritual and ethical framework within which each member of the College community operates as well as helping to maintain and develop the College ethos. The Sixth Form held their service of dedication in the Chapel Royal of St Peter Ad Vincula; this was a historic and moving occasion for all concerned.
