Dress Code

Here at Bacon’s we are committed to the highest of standards for our students; our student’s appearance and being smartly dressed is an important part of this. In our experience the way students wear their uniform can affect their attitude to their studies.  

GIRLS BOYS
• Tops must cover the shoulders and stomach and not be revealing or low-cut
• Spaghetti straps are not acceptable
• Skirts must be of a decent length (should cover at least two thirds of the upper leg, from hip to knee) and suitable for wear in College (not too tight)
• Trousers should be suitable for wear in College and should, therefore, not be torn/ripped/scruffy/too tight/low cut
• Shorts are not acceptable, even with tights or leggings
• Three-quarter length trousers are acceptable
• Smart pumps and boots are acceptable
• Heeled shoes should not be more than three inches and should be suitable for wear in College. Stilettos are not acceptable
• Flips flops and ‘sliders’ are not acceptable but smart sandals are permitted in summer, as long as they have a strap at the back to hold them securely on the foot
• Minimalist jewellery is allowed – earrings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery should be discrete
• No facial piercings are allowed except one discrete nose stud
• Hairstyles should not be extreme in colour or fashion
• Hats can be worn to and from College, but should be removed during the day
• Formal shirt or polo shirt
• V-neck jumpers or smart blazer/jacket
• Smart trousers or chinos – no canvas trousers or jeans
• Formal shoes – no boots, trainers or canvas shoes
• Hair must be neat and tidy and of one conventional colour
• Earrings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery should be discrete
• Hats can be worn to and from College, but should be removed during the day
To provide absolute clarity:
• No hats or caps
• No hooded tops
• No offensive slogans on clothing
• No inappropriately short skirts (midriffs should also not be visible)
• No denim, including low-slung jeans, ripped or torn jeans
• No underwear should be visible
• No sportswear except for Bacon’s College branded PE items for BTEC Sport students (including flip flops and ‘sliders’)
