As a college with a Christian ethos, we believe that it’s our duty and responsibility to have compassion and kindness for others. As such, every year we use the time of reflection in Advent to look beyond ourselves and raise money for those less fortunate.
This year we have chosen to raise funds for those who were hit by hurricanes Irma and Maria. We are partnering with the British Red Cross in their efforts to support those on islands such as Puerto Rico, Dominica and the British Virgin Islands.
Bacon’s students are asking for donations on food stalls, running sporting competitions and having a Mufti Day on the last day of the appeal. In addition, many of our tutor groups are constructing care packages to send to families on the islands. Items in the care packages could include water purification tablets, hand sanitiser, gifts and games.
If we benefit from Bacon’s being a place to grow, we can help others do the same.
