Bacon's College Year 11 students celebrate record GCSE results

An impressive 82% of Year 11 students at Bacon’s College achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 64% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

This year, an impressive 82% of Year 11 students at Bacon’s College achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 64% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

The last time students say formal exams was 2019, and these results are a clear illustration of the progress that Bacon's College has made in recent years.

Some of the students celebrating particular successes today are:

  • Masood Ahmed, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s;
  • Mirrelle Boateng, who achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 6;
  • Cindy Nguyen, who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7;
  • Habibat Ayodele, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s;
  • Gabriel Kadiri, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s;
  • Aaron Suti, who achieved three grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 7;
  • Jake Atanasoff, who achieved three grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and one Distinction* in a Level 2 qualification.

Many of these students will now be returning to our Sixth Form for their A Level or BTEC and CTEC studies this September. The Sixth Form enjoyed its own success last week, when many students achieved the grades they needed to win places at prestigious Russell Group institutions, including the University of Oxford.

With a full 100% pass rate across all A Level or equivalent exams, 38% of the school’s A Level entries this summer gained the top A* or A grades, whilst 83% of Level 3 equivalent entries achieved either Distinction or Distinction*.

Commenting on students’ achievements, James Wilson, Principal at Bacon’s College, said:

“We are very pleased to be celebrating today’s GCSE results with what has been a fantastic group of young people. Their determination and drive, through the difficulties of the pandemic over the past few years, has been commendable and they should each be extremely proud of their achievements.

“Across our school, staff are committed to securing the best outcomes and opportunities for all of our students and this summer’s GCSE and A Level results are testament to that. I am confident today’s successes will prove an inspiration not only to these Year 11s as they continue their studies at A Level, but to all our younger cohorts who will be looking to replicate them in years to come.”
