Last Push...!
The formal exams this summer start on 16th May - that's just 47 days away.
Following our Last Push evening for Year 11 students this week, here is a summary of the top tips for exam success that was shared by Ms Annum.
- Create a revision timetable for the holidays to help you to get through everything you want to cover in manageable chunks
- Create a new one for next term
- Make sure you have somewhere suitable to revise in - a quiet, uncluttered space is best, somewhere you won't be disturbed.
- Switch off your phone temporarily, or put it in another room so it doesn't disttract you.
- Close any open chats or social media on your laptop or computer. Disable notifications if you can.
- Most people work best without music, especially loud music.
- make sure you do take regular breaks to rest your eyes and your brains, e.g. 25/45 mins work, followed by 25/15 mins break
- Don't stay up late revising, it won't help you in the long term.
- Get enough sleep the night before your exam.
- Eat healthy food to fuel your brain, e.g. protein rich and high fibre food that release energy slowly.
- Take regular exercise to help you stay healthy mentally and physically.
- What's your learning style? Tailor your revision to your preferred style of learning, e.g. visual learners may work better with mind maps and drawn charts.
- Use past exam papers and time yourself doing to practice your exam technique.
Year 11 students have all received exam and revision packs which include sample revision timetables and equipment lists for exams.
