Sixth Formers at Bacon’s College have been busy celebrating this morning, after their A Level results secured them offers from some of the UK’s best universities.
With 38% of the school’s A Level entries gaining the top A* or A grades, many students have won places at prestigious Russell Group universities, including the University of Oxford.
The Sixth Form enjoyed a full 100% pass rate across all A Level or equivalent exams, with strong results all round. At A Level, 69% of entries scored A* to B grades, whilst 83% of Level 3 equivalent entries achieved either Distinction or Distinction*.
Among those celebrating particular successes were:
- Eva Price, who achieved three A*s and an A, securing a place at the University of Oxford to read History and English;
- Adrian Wong, who achieved two A*s and an A and will be heading to the University of Manchester to study Aerospace Engineering;
- Enzo Volpi, who achieved two A*s and an A and will now be going to the University of Warwick to study Mathematics;
- Nyah Cooper-Walters, who achieved an A* and two As and has secured a place at King’s College London to study Medicine;
- Jasmine Calnan, who achieved an A*, A and Double Distinction* and is taking up a place at the University of Brighton to study Illustration;
- Jibola Adebajo, who achieved an A* and two As and will now be studying User Experience Design at University of the Arts London.
Beyond this, students’ achievements across the Sixth Form have opened doors to a wide variety of university and training courses. This ranges from environmental science and midwifery to nuclear engineering and music.
Congratulating students on their successes, James Wilson, Principal at Bacon’s College, said:
“It is an immense pleasure as a Head Teacher to see students finish their secondary education with such excellent A Level and equivalent qualification results, knowing that their hard work over many years has paid off. “
“The past few years of the pandemic have been particularly challenging, but our Sixth Formers rose to the occasion and this year’s results are a reflection of the continuous journey of improvement that Bacon’s College has been on. Over 50% of our students achieved at least one A Level at A or A*, and over 80% of the vocational courses also resulted in a Distinction or D*.”
“The range of university offers our students have received – including to Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions – is reflective of the diverse talents and interests of our young people. We are looking forward to seeing what they achieve as they take their next steps into higher education and the world of work.”
