Bacon's Workshops

Bacon's Workshops is a new addition for 2022-23 which gives students the opportunity to explore an area of personal or topical interest with their peers, developing teamwork, organisation and leadership skills in the process.

Workshops topics are driven by students' interests, this term includes:

  • Film and Book
  • Green
  • Medicine
  • Coding
  • Business
  • Unsolved Crimes
  • Physics and Philosophy

If students want other workshops, they need to find a minimum of 10 other students who share that interest and agree to commit to it.

So what's the point of Bacon's Workshops?

  •  Students have set time to get further involved in something they find interesting
  • Workshops Leadership development
  • Workshops activities need develop students in some way e.g:
    • discussing films/tv shows in an interesting thoughtful way
    • Giving presentations on topics “e.g. the merits of different films, or worst end to a trilogy ever” "what is dark matter and why does it matter"
    • Debating/discussing key ideas “what’s the purpose of prisons” "the trolley problem"
    • Producing pieces of work, e.g. coding specific games/programs, learning to code
