Revision is the key to succeeding in the final stretch of Year 11. Effective study strategies allow you to navigate your exams with confidence and calmness. Below you will find a bank of videos created by your teachers to help empower your study over the holidays and through the final term at Bacon's. Make use of these skills, look after yourselves, and work smart!
Revision works best with good structure, and Mr. Maybury is here to help you figure out how best to structure your revision time! A strong revision timetable helps combats procrastination, fatigue, feeling a bit lost and feeling overwhelmed. With a little guidance, you'll have a well-planned week complete with leisure, lunch and learning.
Ms. Coker has you covered for this study technique, demonstrating how to use the Look, Cover, Write, Check method to practice answering short-answer questions until you've got them bonded.
Ms. Small and Ms. Majeed are here to help guide you through the use of flash cards as a tool to remember quotes and key bits of information. With a good deck of cards and a bit of practice, you'll know quotes from A Christmas Carol like the back of your hand!
As Mr. Maybury reminds us: The phone is your enemy when you're revising. However, with some decent self-control, a Do-Not-Disturb mode and some handy apps, a phone or tablet can sometimes help you out a little. Below are some of our favourite apps and websites to help organise yourselves, practice and revise, and look after yourselves.
Feeling a little too stressed out? Headspace can help you wind down!
Have trouble staying off distracting apps? Set a focus timer in Flora and you can start growing a tree. If you use a blocked app, the tree dies and nobody is happy. Focus, revise, grow trees and be happy!
